3 Canadian Adventure Travel Locations

Posted on: July 13th, 2012 by paul

Many vacationers travel abroad to get their adventure travel fix. We are bombarded with endless marketing messages highlighting vacation packages to the United States, Europe, and Asia that offer ‘one of a kind’ travel experiences. Although this may be true, Canadians need not look any further than their own backyards to experience outstanding adventure travel. Its possible to find outstanding last minute deals on these packages. Here are a few locations to check out:

1. Whitewater Rafting

The Ottawa River is home to some of the best whitewater rafting and kayaking in the world. The river boasts rapids of all categories to challenge rafters of varying skill levels. Get a group of friends and go for the weekend for an experience you will never forget. The rugged wilderness of the Ottawa Valley combined with the awesome power of the Ottawa River is a perfect storm for thrill seekers who are interested in taking a trip that will surely boost your heart rate.

2. Whale Watching

When you think of whale watching the first thing that comes to mind is probably the coastal waters of British Columbia. However, there is a hidden gem in Tadoussac, Quebec. Located just a couple hours drive from Quebec City, Tadoussac sits on the banks of the St. Lawrence River where the Saguenay and St Lawrence Rivers meet. A tour of the watching takes you on what can be compared to a mythical journey along the fjords of the Saguenay into the heart of the St. Lawrence where you can spot 13 species of whales.

3. Heli Skiing

Want to go to the alps for great skiing? Look no further than the Rocky Mountains in Alberta/BC for an experience to brag about. Aside from great ski resorts like the ones in Banff, Jasper, and Whistler, the adventure traveler (and experienced skier) can pay a little extra to get dropped off at the peak of a mountain an carve their way through the fresh powder.

These are merely three of Canada’s many great adventure attractions. Stay tuned to future blogs for more great Canadian travel spots.
