Great Museums of New York City

New York City is home to a number of very impressive museums famous throughout the world. Anyone who is considering taking a trip to NYC is going to want to visit at least one of the many museums in the area. You will find many different types of museums in the city, and everyone should be able to find something that suits their interests. The proceeding is just a few of the many great museums that are available in the area. If nothing here catches your interest, dig deeper and you are sure to find something to enjoy along the Museum Mile.

 

Perhaps the most famous of the museums in the city is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, called simply The Met by many. The museum is large, with more than 32 acres and well over 3.5 million pieces of art. You can find paintings by some of the most famous artists in history including Rembrandt. You will also see some authentic Roman statues.

 

Another great art museum is the Museum of Modern Art or MOMA. Even the building, a 6-story glass atrium, is impressive. Inside, you will find artwork and film from some of the most popular and influential artists of the 20th century.

 

For those who aren’t looking for history and want to see the dinosaurs, the American Museum of Natural History is the place to be! You will find all manner of natural history exhibits at the museum including the T-Rex, Triceratops and Stegosaurus. Check out the many other wonderful exhibits as well and make sure you stop into the planetarium.

 

These are a few of the most popular museums in the city, but you will be able to find many more when you are on vacation. From the museum on Ellis Island to the Guggenheim, there really is something for everyone.
