Hidden Gem: Caye Caulker, Belize

Caye Caulker truly is a great place to experience laid back island life. It is a small limestone coral island off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea. Measuring roughly 8 km (north to south) and less than 2 km (east to west), the island embodies the word relax.

With its clear blue sea with its breathtaking underwater scenery, it is no wonder this island is one of the worlds most recognized diving and snorkeling location. Just off Caye Caulker you can snorkel in the world’s second longest barrier reef. Swimming with thousands of species of marine life, not to mention nurse sharks and rays, is a once in a lifetime experience.

Aside from the sea, the land has much to offer a traveler as well. There are many restaurants offering local cuisine as well as international dishes. If you like seafood, this is your spot! Imagine eating fresh seafood from the reef you were exploring earlier that day.

To get to Caye Caulker, first fly into Belize City. You can either take a quick flight to Caye Caulker, or from the Marine Terminal in Belize City, you can jump on a water taxi for a quick and reliable ride to the island. If you plan to fly to Caye Caulker, the International Airport has convenient connections to Caye Caulker and you can find decent deals on flights.
