Waterfalls are always a very popular tourist excursion. Many people flock to see the tall cascading falls and to swim in the pools of water beneath them. The best waterfalls are those in mountainous areas. Here are a few of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Caribbean.
Belaine Falls, St. Vincent
These falls are only able to be reached by boat. After a scenic boat ride, you must wade through shallow water to get to the beach. Once you reach the falls, you will see 60-feet of cascading water and rock-enclosed freshwater pools. Book a day trip to really experience this adventure.
Emerald Pool Falls, Dominica
Only a short walk from the reception center of Morne Trois Pitons National Park, you will be astounded by the crystal blue waters of Emerald Pool that is fed by a 50-foot waterfall.
Somerset Falls, Jamaica
You can approach these falls by foot on a paved path or by gondola via the Daniels River. Daring travelers can swim in a whirlpool or jump off the falls into a pool of water. In between swims you can enjoy fresh seafood at the onsite restaurant.
La Mina Falls, Puerto Rico
From the El Yunque rainforest, two trails lead to La Mina Falls. For a casual walk which takes roughly a half-hour through the lush interior, take the Big Tree Trail. More advanced hikers can take the La Mina Falls trail that climbs 2,132 feet and takes 30-45 minutes each way. Either way, your hike will lead you to a big pay-off – the La Mina Falls. The water cascades over a cliff into a pool. Enter the pool and cool off under the beautiful falling fresh water.
Diamond Falls, Saint Lucia
These botanical gardens and mineral baths are natural wonders of Saint Lucia. Walk through the lush fertile vegetation and marvel at the diverse range of tropical flowers, then bask in the hot mineral springs that fill the historical baths with age old medicinal waters. These hot spring lie at the base of the breathtaking waterfall.
