5 “Do’s” for Your Winter Vacation

Posted on: November 15th, 2013 by paul

The Holidays are quickly approaching and there are some great deals to be found on vacation packages.

Here’s a list of things you should DO for your trip:

Miami1. Take Lots of Pictures

Take pictures during every part of your vacation. Today’s technology makes it easy to create lasting memories of what might be the trip of a lifetime. Before you depart, make sure to clear your memory card and perhaps buy some additional memory so you can capture lots of photos and videos. Don’t delete any of the ‘bad’ pictures until you have returned home and had a chance to recalibrate. They might not be so bad after all!

2. Pack Lots of Sunscreen

Aside from the health benefits for your skin, you can save quite a bit of money by packing your own sunscreen. Sun destinations tend to have overpriced sun care products. Save your money for the things you really enjoy and bring lots of SPF 40, 30, and 15.

3. Try New Things

It’s a vacation, it’s time to let your hair down. Sing, dance, and try a new water sport. Who knows, maybe you are a natural at windsurfing.

4. Try to Speak the Local Language

Before you leave for you trip, do some research on the local customs and language. Pick up a few common phrases such as how to order drinks, ask where the washroom is, and hellos and goodbyes. This will go a long way when you are wandering off the resort and your attempts to speak the language will please the service staff at the resort. If you are traveling to the Dominican Republic, check out our blog on the history of the language on the island of Hispaniola.

5. Have Fun!

This is the most important aspect of any vacation and can also be the hardest. Sometimes you just need to leave the real world behind and kick your feet up while throwing your inhibitions to the wind. Leave your job, your boss, your housework, your debts, and all your worries in Canada and get into a mindset of having fun.

Enjoy!
