Santorini, Greece

Santorini is the largest Greek Island in the southern Aegean Sea. Located 200km from Greece’s mainland, this island is by far the most striking of the Greek Islands. The present-day crescent shape of the island is a consequence of volcanic activity in prehistoric times. Santorini is essentially what remains of an enormous volcanic explosion dated back 3,600 years. When you think of the Greek Islands, you probably think of cliffs with whitewashed square houses built at their peaks. You might even picture donkeys carrying loads up steep inclines, blue-domed charges, and crystal blue waters. If this is what you are picturing when you think of Greece, than you are indeed thinking of the most photogenic of the islands: Santorini.

Things to Do On Victoria Day Weekend

Victoria Day is a Canadian public holiday on the Monday before May 25th. This holiday represents the birthday of Queen Victoria (May 24th) and is commonly known amongst young populations as May 2-4 weekend (representing a 24 pack of beer).  Although this long weekend pays tribute to the Queen of Canada’s Commonwealth Nation, it has now become a popular weekend which signifies the beginning of summer.

Traveling While Pregnant

There are many questions about traveling while pregnant. Should I fly while pregnant? Should I get immunizations? Which seats are most comfortable? Though it seems like it may just be easier to stay at home while pregnant, it is not the only choice. Here are some tips and idea to consider when traveling while pregnant.

Flying While Pregnant

If you plan to fly, be sure to first discuss it with your doctor. Unless there are any problems, if you’re in the early stages (when miscarriages are more likely), or if you’re in the late stages (when you may be more likely to go into labor) your doctor will allow you to go. Check airline regulations regarding pregnancy before your book your flight because some airlines do not allow you to fly after a certain point. (more…)

While you are on vacation, the last thing you want to do is be stuck inside a hot sweaty gym. That makes it a great time to get creative with your exercise routine. Since you are on vacation to relax, why not have a workout that matches that mindset? Walking is the perfect solution for your vacation workout.

A lot of fitness gurus insist that to burn ‘x’ amount of calories we must exercise at a high intensity. Although we cannot argue with the fact that exercising at 60-80 percent of your maximum heart rate strengthens your heart and allows it to run more efficiently.
