Ancient Sites of Verona, Italy

Verona, Italy, is located in the northeastern region of Veneto. It is known as a romantic and ancient city that is often overshadowed by larger tourist destinations like Venice. Although many people flock to Venice when in the north, Verona is a welcome escape from crowds as well as a relaxed, pleasant and historically rich place to visit. Famous as the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Verona was a Roman city, and many Roman ruins have been preserved, notably it’s Arena. Most of the historical sites which grab the interest of tourists date back more than 800 years.

A Historical Tour of Havana

If your resort is close enough to Havana, it is worth while breaking away from the beach for a day to check out the historical center of the capital city. Not only is it the capital of the country, but it is a major port and leading commercial center of Cuba.

Historical Background:

Havana was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century and due to its strategic location it served as a springboard for the Spanish conquest. In 1592, the Spaniards began building fortifications in the capital. Before long, the port had become the most important in the Spanish colonial empire. The 17th and 18th centuries saw Havana grow steadily in wealth and size.

The Top 5 Beaches in the World

Although this is an incredibly subjective viewpoint of a writer, people are always in search of where the ‘most beautiful beaches in the world’ lie. Cramming the beauty and diversity of the world’s coastlines into a structured list is not an easy thing to do. Not to mention, when comparing Frommers to the Lonely Planet to Wikitravel, the order and the contenders are much debated. Nonetheless, from a little bit of research and a little bit of personal experience, here is a well thought out (yet bias) list of the Top 5 most beautiful and esthetically pleasing beaches in the world.

Lake George in Upstate New York is a Great Rural Getaway

One of the most popular places to stay in the Adirondack region of New York is Lake George. It is a famous area, home to many historic sites, and one of the most tourist friendly places in the region. The village of Lake George has many of the most popular sites within walking distance from most of the hotels and motels. All of the other popular destinations are just a short drive away. The lake is also within walking distance, and it has a nice beach that can be crowded in the summer. Other beaches are available along the lake, but you will have to drive to reach them.
